Mia on watch while the crew is below sleeping!

The last trip of the year was south from Portsmouth, VA to the BVI with ARC Caribbean 1500 This was the first time for us to actually sail in the event that we have managed for many years now! The crew, Ed, Bruce, David and Tom, arrived during the week leading up to the start that was scheduled for Sunday November 6. Due to a favorable weather window, the start was scheduled for a day early and it as a bit running around on the docks to get everything ready for departure.

It was a fantastic trip, with a nice and slow 24 hr. The wind then quickly picked up and we had 25-30 kts with 10 ft swell rolling in from behind. Surprisingly the wind was aft of the beam the majority of the trip, something we could never have asked for. A great trip, great crew and lots of fun! On the early morning of November 14, we crossed the finish line just east of Tortola and celebrated with a glass of bubble. Before entering the marina we stopped for a swim and had a very fresh boat pulling in to the dock!
