Andy, Mia & World Cruising Club at Annapolis Sailboat Show

Mia and Andy will be exhibiting, as usual, with World Cruising Club at the annual Sailboat Show in Annapolis, October 8-12, 2015. Find us in text O-17, near the Marriott parking lot entrance. In addition to the booth, we've got LOTS going on in and around the show. All of these events can be found on the Seminar page of the website, but below is a summary. Check it out:


Isbjörn Open House

When: Friday, October 9, 4-6pm & Sunday, October 11, 4-6pm.
Where: Port Annapolis Marina, D Dock (7074 Bembe Beach Rd)

What: Tour Isbjörn, our 1972 Swan 48, for a chance to see a properly outfitting ocean sailing yacht.
Cost: Free!
Details: Show up at Port A and join us to check out the boat! We'll have soft drinks, beer & wine on hand, and offer tours inside and out, highlighting some of the refit work we did and some of the safety equipment that's needed for all of the ocean voyaging we'll be doing in the coming year. All welcome!


World Cruising Club Crew Party

When: Friday, October 9, 2016, 6:30-8:00pm (immediately following the Open House!).
Where: Chesapeake Sailmakers (7366 Edgewood Rd, just up the street from Port A).

What: Come have a beer with current and former rally participants!
Details: Open to anyone who's sailed in a rally with us before, or who'd like to meet some folks who are doing it this year. Great chance to meet boat owners if you're looking for a ride!

World ARC Breakfast Forum

When: Friday, October 9, 2016, early morning
Where: Upstairs at the Federal House Bar & Grille, downtown Annapolis.

What: Interested in sailing with the round-the-world rally? Come hear some circumnavigators talk about it and learn about the route!

World Cruising Club Ocean Sailing Forum

When: Saturday October 10, 2015.
Where: O'Callaghan Hotel, 174 West Street, Annapolis.

The discussion starts promptly at 9AM and will finish by 11AM. Coffee and donuts available from 8AM and a chance to chat with other sailors and our panelists.

Andy Schell will moderate a panel of experts to discuss the preparation required for ocean sailing, from selecting equipment to sailing with children, offshore communications to sail plans. There will be a special emphasis on the requirements for the Caribbean 1500.

If you are planning to cruise offshore this year or in the future, then the Ocean Sailing Forum is the perfect opportunity to expand your knowledge and learn some top tips from the 'experts'.

A free adult entry ticket for the US Sailboat Show 2015 in Annapolis will be provided at registration on Saturday October 10. This ticket cannot be supplied before the Forum. Adult entry tickets for the show usually cost $20.

Andy's Seminars at Cruiser's University

Where: Historic Inns of Annapolis

What: Andy will host three lectures on the Monday, including Money & Cruising, Eastern Caribbean Hotspots, and a LIVE 59º North Podcast with Rick & Julie Palm on transitioning from Monohull to Multihulls!
