180: Magnus Ormestad // Husky Podcast

Today’s episode is slightly different. Magnus Ormestad is the host of my favorite Swedish podcast, called ‘Husky,’ where he interviews folks into outdoor sports & adventure. Magnus & I met a few years ago over coffee in a bike shop in Stockholm and became quick friends. We recorded in Sweden in January - it was a back-and-forth talk between two people used to ‘hosting’, with him interviewing me a bit and vice versa. But this episode is really more about what ties together outdoor adventure pursuits - how people find the passion and motivation to pursue their dreams, in any environment. Be sure to check out Husky’s English-language episodes on iTunes.

Hey team. Mia & I are back on Isbjorn. As I record, we’re on anchor in Falmouth, Antigua, getting the boat ready for the RORC Caribbean 600 Race. We’ll be in the thick of it by the time you hear this - follow us via the fleet tracking on the website at caribbean600.rorc.org.

You can join us on Isbjorn for a taste of ocean sailing - go to 59-north.com/offshore to see our full calendar. We’ve got just three spaces left for all of 2017, on our final passage of the year in the Baltic in August. Then, options are open for our Arctic passages in 2018! Hope to see you on the high seas!

Don’t forget, if you want to support the podcast, contribute directly to us at onthewind.co - just click the big blue FUND button. Or, if you’re a member on Patreon, go to patreon.com/onthewind to subscribe there. Huge thanks to those of you who continue to support us.

And finally, don’t miss our new podcast Sailing Stories, hosted by Lee Cumberland & narrated by Duncan Hood. I’m super excited to say that the show’s been a hit from day 1! Season 1, which will run for a total of 12 weeks, features the audio rendition of the book Brave or Stupid, a story of two Swedes who set out to circumnavigate on a whim and a wine-fueled handshake. If you haven’t discovered Sailing Stories yet, make sure to start from Episode 1. Tales from the high seas, told week by week.
